Look Up
Look up and search the sky, and there you’ll chance a Swallow, flying very high. This one took a pity, I’m sure it really did, for it landed on a cable not far from where I was hid. My camera at the ready I fired off a shot. I look up again to thank it, and have another go, but it had taken to the sky again flying south, south, east. Perhaps back on its journey, back from whence it came, back to sunny Africa away from all the our summer rain!

I love to watch the swallows. They do not visit my yard but the live in the dunes…bluffs?…the build holes/nests in the sides of some of the more secure dunes. They LOVE sailboat rigging.

Thanks for your comment. However I not sure that the birds you refer to are swallows re. nesting in burrows. The only one, as far as the UK is concerned, that dig burrows to nest in is the Sand Martin, a relative of the Swallow. Check this link http://www.bbc.co.uk/nature/22527420 I don’t know for sure, but I think you have more species of swifts, swallows even martins in North America. Thanks again,
